The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office welcomed four new members during a swearing-in ceremony, including experienced deputies and a new detention officer.

Shawn Hill has been sworn in as interim chief of the Landis Police Department after serving with the agency since 2019 and advancing through its ranks.

Storms triggered at least 17 emergency responses across Rowan County, including downed trees, power lines, road closures and a pasture fire in several communities.
