DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Two Winston-Salem residents were arrested on drug and traffic-related charges following a traffic stop in Davidson County earlier this month, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said detectives with the T.R.A.C.E. Team conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Solara on June 5 near Hickory Tree Road and Old Highway 52 in the Winston-Salem area for a traffic violation.
During the investigation, detectives arrested the driver, Jessica Strickland, 40, and the passenger, Waylon Whisenhunt, 25, both of Winston-Salem.
Authorities charged Strickland with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, displaying an expired registration plate, and an equipment violation.
Whisenhunt was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were transported to the Davidson County Detention Center, where they were held without bond due to pretrial release conditions. They are scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court later this month.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office noted that under North Carolina law, conditions of pretrial release are determined by judicial officials and not by law enforcement officers.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
