The Winston-Salem City Council has approved a temporary youth curfew aimed at reducing late-night crime and disturbances involving juveniles. The ordinance, which took effect June 22 following a 5-3 council vote, prohibits anyone age 17 or younger from being in public places or businesses between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The curfew is scheduled to remain in effect through Oct. 12, the day after the Carolina Classic Fair. Gregory Dreux Crateau, 48, of Davie County, was arrested June 23 in Winston-Salem on a warrant charging him with failing to register as a sex offender, according to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant was issued March 26 after investigators alleged Crateau failed to comply with North Carolina’s sex offender registration requirements. FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. – A Forsyth County man has been charged with multiple child sexual exploitation offenses following an investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force. Investigators said the task force began investigating a report of child exploitation in June 2026. During the investigation, detectives identified 45-year-old William Cain Shelton as the suspect. On June 24, members of the Invictus Task Force executed a search warrant. Shelton was arrested and charged with three counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. ASHEBORO, N.C. — Officers with the Asheboro Police Department made multiple arrests involving indecent exposure, impaired driving, narcotics offenses and property crimes during recent shifts, according to information released by the department. Among the arrests was Shawn Schuyler, who was charged with indecent exposure after officers said he exposed himself to citizens at a local business. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 71-year-old motorcyclist died Monday from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred over the weekend in Winston-Salem, according to police. The crash happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday as Thomas William Kelly attempted to merge onto Interstate 40. Investigators said Kelly’s motorcycle struck a guardrail during the merge. Kelly was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. He later died Monday as a result of those injuries, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department. The traffic stop occurred June 19 on Shanda Lane near Blythe Drive in Thomasville for a reported traffic violation.
