WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 71-year-old motorcyclist died Monday from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred over the weekend in Winston-Salem, according to police.
The crash happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday as Thomas William Kelly attempted to merge onto Interstate 40. Investigators said Kelly’s motorcycle struck a guardrail during the merge.
Kelly was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. He later died Monday as a result of those injuries, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
The crash remains under investigation. No additional details have been released.
