DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Detectives and School Resource Officers with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a large-scale compliance operation targeting registered sex offenders across the county on Tuesday, June 30.
The operation focused on verifying addresses and ensuring registered sex offenders were complying with North Carolina’s sex offender registration requirements.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators conducted in-person compliance checks on 50 registered sex offenders to verify residential addresses and other information required under state law.
During the operation, detectives identified two suspected violations of North Carolina’s sex offender registry laws. Officials said the investigations remain ongoing, and criminal charges are expected.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said the operation is part of its ongoing effort to promote public safety through enforcement of state sex offender registration laws. Under North Carolina law, individuals convicted of certain sex-related offenses are required to register, and local sheriff’s offices are responsible for maintaining accurate registry information and investigating suspected violations.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office currently oversees 568 registered sex offenders within its jurisdiction.
The North Carolina Sex Offender Registry is available to the public and allows residents to search for registered offenders by name or location.
