WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 7-year-old boy died Sunday after he was accidentally shot inside a Winston-Salem home, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department. Officers responded around 5 p.m. to the 2800 block of North Glenn Avenue following reports of a shooting. According to police, a preliminary investigation found that two juveniles were alone inside the home when they located a firearm. While one of the juveniles was handling the weapon, it discharged, striking the 7-year-old boy. The child was pronounced dead at the scene by Forsyth County EMS. Reginald Saquan Wakefield, 33, was taken into custody after police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for a silver Dodge Challenger believed to be connected to the investigation.
