WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 2-year-old child died Friday afternoon following a drowning incident in northeastern Winston-Salem. According to the Winston-Salem Fire Department, crews responded to a medical emergency at approximately 3:08 p.m. in the 4000 block of Northampton Drive. Firefighters located the child after a reported drowning and immediately began providing emergency medical care. Despite life-saving efforts, the child died. No additional information about the circumstances surrounding the drowning has been released. The incident remains under investigation.
