
LANDIS, N.C. — The Town of Landis has appointed Detective Sgt. Shawn Hill as interim police chief while officials begin the search for a permanent leader of the Landis Police Department.
Town Manager Michael D. Ambrose announced Monday that Hill has formally accepted the interim position. Hill will begin transitioning into the role alongside outgoing Chief Geelen from July 8 through July 24 to help ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Hill has served with the Landis Police Department since 2019. Town officials said he brings experience, leadership and dedication to the department as he assumes the interim role.
The town also announced that recruitment for a permanent police chief will begin this week. The position will remain open through Aug. 7, with officials aiming to select and appoint a permanent chief by Sept. 30.
Ambrose thanked Chief Geelen for his service to the Town of Landis and for assisting with the transition. He also congratulated Hill on stepping into the leadership role.
Town officials said they remain committed to providing professional, responsive and dependable public safety services throughout the transition process.
