WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two teenagers remain in critical condition after a shooting late Friday night at a gathering in southeastern Winston-Salem, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Police said a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old arrived at a local hospital in a private vehicle shortly after 11:12 p.m. Friday suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers responded to the hospital and began an investigation.
Detectives determined the shooting stemmed from an altercation that occurred earlier at a gathering in the 2300 block of Cragmore Road. According to investigators, the two teens became involved in a fight with a suspect before the individual fired multiple rounds, striking both victims.
Police later located the crime scene at the Cragmore Road address. Investigators said the scene was not immediately discovered because no one at the gathering contacted 911 following the shooting.
Both victims were listed in critical condition as of Saturday.
Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident. No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not released information about a suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Winston-Salem Police Department’s non-emergency line at 336-773-7700 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
