Evenflo Recalls 59,661 REO Revolve360 Car Seats

Evenflo has issued a voluntary recall of nearly 60,000 REO by Revolve360 child car seats after federal compliance testing found the seats do not meet a key federal safety standard.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 59,661 REO by Revolve360 seats are affected by the recall. The issue involves the headrest, which could move downward during a crash under certain conditions, reducing head protection and increasing the risk of injury.

The recall was initiated after post-production crash testing identified a problem with the headrest locking mechanism. Evenflo said the seat shell can flex during certain crash forces, allowing the headrest latch to disengage and the headrest to shift unexpectedly.

The affected seats fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213, which establishes crash performance requirements for child restraint systems sold in the United States.

The recall applies only to REO by Revolve360 models with model numbers beginning with CS26021. Affected color options include Brookline, Lenox, Holden, Nantucket, Danvers and Chelsea.

Evenflo said the recall does not include the original Revolve360, Revolve360 Extend, Revolve180 or Revolve360 Slim models.

The company has not received any reports of injuries related to the defect. The issue was identified during laboratory crash testing rather than through customer complaints or real-world crashes.

While a permanent repair is being developed, Evenflo advises owners of affected seats to avoid using the highest headrest positions. The company said the seats remain acceptable for use if the headrest is adjusted to positions 1 through 10 in rear-facing mode and positions 1 through 9 in forward-facing mode, provided the child still fits within the seat’s height requirements.

Registered owners are expected to begin receiving interim notification letters in August. Evenflo will provide a free remedy once it has been finalized.

Parents and caregivers should check the model number label on the back of the seat to determine whether their child restraint is included in the recall. Additional information is available through Evenflo’s customer support and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall database.
