FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A Statesville man was arrested Saturday after police said he threw bottles at vehicles traveling on Interstate 40 in Forsyth County.

Kennith Arnold Hansen, 60, was arrested Aug. 29 by the Winston-Salem Police Department.

Police said Hansen was in the median of I-40 throwing bottles at passing vehicles. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly throwing a bottle at one vehicle as it traveled along the interstate.

The incident also resulted in disorderly conduct and littering charges related to the bottles being thrown. Hansen was also charged with second-degree trespassing for being in the I-40 median despite posted notices prohibiting entry.

Police also charged Hansen with misdemeanor larceny in connection with the theft of a Walmart shopping cart valued at $200.

Hansen faces five misdemeanor charges: assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree trespassing, disorderly conduct, misdemeanor larceny and littering between 10 and 500 pounds.

He is scheduled to appear in Forsyth County District Court on Oct. 26.
