MOORESVILLE, N.C. — The Town of Mooresville and the Mooresville Spinners have reached a mutual agreement resolving the baseball team’s lease at Moor Park, marking the end of a partnership spanning more than a decade.

The announcement came as the town continued a major renovation of the historic ballpark, which began in early 2025. Town officials said the project was intended to modernize the facility and provide a gathering place for future generations.

The Spinners, established in 2014, competed in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League, winning five league championships during their time in Mooresville.

John Wilcox, principal owner of the Spinners, thanked the community and town officials for their years of support while encouraging fans to look toward the future of baseball in Mooresville.

“We are grateful to the Spinners fans and to this community for more than a decade of support, and we appreciate the support the Town of Mooresville extended to the Spinners over the years,” Wilcox said.

Wilcox also addressed criticism directed toward town leaders during discussions surrounding the team’s future at Moor Park.

“We do not support the negativity that has been directed at the Town or its leaders,” he said, urging supporters to keep discussions respectful.

The agreement comes during a period of transition for baseball in Mooresville as the town works to revitalize Moor Park.

Mayor Pro Tem Eddie Dingler acknowledged the Spinners’ contributions to the community and thanked the organization for its partnership.

“While we are excited by the possibilities a new Moor Park brings, we would not be where we are today without the love of baseball that the Mooresville Spinners have supported in this town for more than a decade,” Dingler said.

The town has not released specific details of the lease resolution or announced which teams or organizations will use the renovated ballpark.

Officials said additional information about the future of baseball in Mooresville and the ongoing Moor Park renovation would be released in the coming months.
