DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Thomasville man was arrested on fentanyl-related charges after Davidson County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to community concerns about suspicious activity in the area of Denton Road, authorities said.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Traffic and Criminal Enforcement (TRACE) Team arrested John Ferrell, 38, on June 18 and charged him with possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Investigators said residents had recently reported suspicious individuals walking along Denton Road near Tar Heel Drive and expressed concerns about possible criminal activity in the area.
During their investigation, detectives made contact with Ferrell as he was pushing a bicycle along Denton Road. Authorities said detectives located fentanyl in his possession during the encounter.
Ferrell was taken into custody and confined in the Davidson County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court later in June.
The sheriff’s office credited information from community members with helping direct the investigation.
