MOCKSVILLE, N.C. — Two Statesville men have been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Davie County business where investigators say two masked suspects used guns and pepper spray before stealing about $9,000.
The Davie County Sheriff’s Office said the robbery happened around 1:01 a.m. June 5 at Fish Games, located at 2273 U.S. Highway 64 West.
Deputies learned of the robbery after a citizen stopped them and reported the business was being robbed, according to the sheriff’s office.
When deputies arrived, no suspects were found at the business. Deputies did find money scattered in the roadway.
Investigators spoke with the business manager and determined two male suspects had entered the business and committed the robbery at gunpoint.
Surveillance video showed two suspects wearing face coverings and carrying pistols enter the business, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators said the suspects forced people back inside the building and deployed pepper spray before taking approximately $9,000 in cash.
The suspects then fled on foot to a vehicle waiting nearby. Authorities said the vehicle traveled to Interstate 40 and headed west toward Statesville.
The sheriff’s office said investigators executed multiple search warrants, analyzed digital and electronic evidence and conducted numerous interviews during the investigation.
Authorities identified the suspects as 26-year-old Keenan Ryshuan Bunch and 33-year-old Kevin William Owens, both of Statesville.
Bunch was arrested July 30 in Statesville. He is charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony second-degree kidnapping.
Bunch received a $175,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 27.
Owens was arrested Aug. 5 in Winston-Salem. He faces the same three felony charges.
Owens received a $125,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13.
The investigation remains active. The sheriff’s office said additional arrests and charges are anticipated.
