
ASHEBORO, N.C. — Officers with the Asheboro Police Department made multiple arrests involving indecent exposure, impaired driving, narcotics offenses and property crimes during recent shifts, according to information released by the department.

Among the arrests was Shawn Schuyler, who was charged with indecent exposure after officers said he exposed himself to citizens at a local business. Authorities said Schuyler was denied bond because he was already out on bond for previous charges.
Officers also responded to Brewer Street following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Detectives with the Asheboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. No additional details about the victim’s condition or potential suspects were immediately released.
Several impaired driving arrests were made during the reporting period. Officer Bautista arrested a driver on charges including driving while impaired after the individual recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.21. Officer Reeves arrested another driver for DWI and reckless driving after the driver registered a 0.22 blood alcohol concentration. Officer Wall investigated a vehicle crash on Salisbury Street and charged the driver with DWI after obtaining a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08. Officer Bautista also arrested a female driver for DWI based on blood evidence and additional traffic-related offenses.
Drug enforcement efforts also resulted in multiple arrests. During a traffic stop, Officer Sesmas deployed K-9 Apollo, who alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officers subsequently seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. In a separate traffic stop, Officer Reeves arrested a man on charges related to possession of methamphetamine and other narcotics.
Officers Otero and Bym conducted a traffic stop that led to the seizure of three firearms, illegal drugs, gloves and masks. One occupant of the vehicle was arrested as a result of the investigation.
Officers also investigated a break-in at a business near Vision Drive and Fayetteville Street. Officer Medley responded to an alarm call and located two juveniles who had allegedly entered the business unlawfully. Charges are being sought in the case.
In another incident, Officer Senneke charged a juvenile with driving after consuming alcohol, speeding, driving left of center and a red-light violation.
The Asheboro Police Department said the arrests and investigations reflect the department’s continued efforts to address violent crime, impaired driving, narcotics activity and property crimes throughout the city.
