LEXINGTON, N.C. — Law enforcement agencies are searching for, 45-year-old Mary Helms who reportedly escaped Tuesday from the North Piedmont Correctional and Recovery Center in Lexington.
According to dispatch information, Helms escaped sometime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. She is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 152 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and black shorts.
Authorities believe she may be traveling in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and may have connections in the Morganton area.
