CLEVELAND, N.C. , A Cleveland woman is facing felony charges after Iredell County investigators alleged she embezzled thousands of dollars from a church cemetery fund.
The investigation began on May 28, 2026, after members of a Statesville church contacted the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office to report suspicious activity involving the church’s cemetery fund. According to investigators, the church treasurer discovered financial discrepancies while reviewing the account, prompting concerns about possible theft.
The case was assigned to Detective J. Parks of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Financial Crimes Division. During the investigation, Detective Parks reviewed financial records, examined bank documents, and interviewed witnesses.
Investigators determined multiple checks had been written from the church’s cemetery fund account to one of the account holders, identified as Jamie Bame Shore, 58, of Cleveland. Authorities alleged the checks totaled $9,700 and that the money was used for personal purchases instead of maintaining the church cemetery as intended.
Based on the investigation, Detective Parks obtained warrants charging Shore with four counts of felony embezzlement.
Shore was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Magistrate Imes set bond at $10,000 secured.
