



IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A K-9 with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office helped deputies locate a fleeing suspect and recover more than 100 grams of marijuana following a traffic stop in Iredell County on May 29.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop when K-9 Elio alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
During the stop, the driver, identified as James Malcolm Ingram, fled on foot. Deputies deployed K-9 Elio, who tracked the suspect for more than a quarter mile and led deputies directly to his location, where he was taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 111.61 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
Ingram was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resist, delay and obstruct an officer. He was placed under a no-bond hold.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Jalieh Chantel Lewis, was also arrested. Lewis was charged with misdemeanor resist, delay and obstruct an officer after allegedly resisting deputies during the investigation.
The sheriff’s office credited K-9 Elio’s alert and tracking abilities with helping deputies safely apprehend the suspect and recover the narcotics.
