ASHEBORO, N.C. — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is renewing its appeal for information as investigators continue working to solve the fatal shooting of a juvenile that occurred nearly a year ago on Hickory Drive in Asheboro.

The shooting happened Sept. 6, 2025, when deputies responded to a residence on Hickory Drive after receiving a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound. When deputies arrived, they found a juvenile male who had been shot. The victim died from his injuries.

Investigators have released few details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities previously confirmed another juvenile was inside the home at the time of the incident but have not disclosed whether that individual witnessed the shooting or was involved.

The Sheriff’s Office has not identified a suspect, announced any arrests or released information regarding a possible motive. Investigators also have not said whether they believe the shooting was accidental or intentional.

In a renewed public appeal, the Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe members of the community may have information that could help move the case forward.

“Even the smallest detail could prove critical to this investigation,” the agency said in a statement, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at 336-318-6699 or call 911. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Randolph County Crime Stoppers at 336-672-7463.

The investigation remains active. No additional information has been released.
