ROCKWELL, N.C. – Rockwell Rural Fire Department has taken another step toward building a new regional firefighter training facility through a partnership with Gold Hill Fire Department.
Department officials said the future training site recently underwent mulching and minor regrading to prepare the property for construction. The work marks one of the first visible phases of the project, which is designed to expand training opportunities for firefighters from both departments.
Although construction has not yet begun, officials described the site preparation as a significant milestone in moving the project forward.
Once completed, the regional training facility will provide hands-on training in a dedicated environment, allowing firefighters to sharpen critical skills and improve emergency response capabilities. The departments said the facility will help strengthen operational readiness and support ongoing professional development for firefighters for years to come.
The project represents a collaborative effort between Rockwell Rural Fire Department and Gold Hill Fire Department to invest in regional emergency services and enhance training resources for their personnel.
