SALISBURY, N.C. — A Rowan County man has been charged with making felony threats against a Rowan County Superior Court judge following an incident at the Rowan County Courthouse.
According to an arrest warrant, 30-year-old Zackary Howard Bentley was charged with one count of threatening an executive, legislative, or court officer, a felony under North Carolina law.
Court records allege the offense occurred Aug. 1. The warrant states Bentley knowingly threatened to kill Rowan County Superior Court Judge M. Adkins while making statements directed toward the judge. The alleged remarks included threats to hunt down and kill the judge after being released.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident. Deputy M. Honeycutt is listed as the complainant on the warrant.
A Rowan County magistrate issued the arrest warrant on Aug. 4 after determining there was probable cause to support the charge.
