THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A Salisbury man has been arrested following a Davidson County investigation into allegations of sexual conduct involving a minor and an assault on the person who reported the conduct.
Davidson County sheriff’s deputies responded Aug. 13 to the Thomasville area after receiving a report that an adult man had engaged in alleged sexual conduct with a juvenile. Authorities said the man subsequently assaulted the reporting party after the alleged conduct was discovered.
Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and began an investigation.
Investigators identified the suspect as Steven McCall Finley, 23, of Salisbury.
Finley was later located by Salisbury police investigators and transported to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Following an interview, Davidson County investigators arrested Finley.
He was charged with indecent liberties with a child, assault on a female, assault in the presence of a minor, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and assault by pointing a gun.
The sheriff’s office said investigators used Flock camera technology during the investigation.
Finley is being held without bond at the Davidson County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on Aug. 28.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office noted that under North Carolina law, judicial officials determine conditions of pretrial release and law enforcement officers do not set bond amounts.
Finley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
