LANDIS, N.C. — The Town of Landis has sworn in Shawn Hill as interim chief of the Landis Police Department, placing a veteran member of the agency in charge as the department begins its next chapter.
Town officials announced Hill’s appointment this week, recognizing his leadership and commitment to the department and the community.
Hill joined the Landis Police Department in 2019 and has served in several leadership roles during his tenure. Before being named interim chief, he served as detective sergeant, overseeing the department’s investigative division.
In 2022, Hill earned the North Carolina Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate, the state’s highest professional certification for law enforcement officers. The certification is awarded by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission to officers who meet advanced requirements for education, training and experience.
The town said Hill has demonstrated a strong commitment to public safety, professionalism and supporting both the community and fellow officers throughout his career.
“Please join us in congratulating Interim Chief Hill on this well-deserved appointment as he leads the department into its next chapter,” the Town of Landis said in a statement.
Town officials have not announced how long Hill will serve as interim chief or provided a timeline for selecting a permanent police chief.
The Landis Police Department serves the Town of Landis with a staff of full-time, part-time and reserve officers dedicated to community policing and public safety.
