Reginald Saquan Wakefield, 33

Kannapolis police have arrested the suspect sought in connection with Sunday’s shooting in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Reginald Saquan Wakefield, 33, was taken into custody after police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for a silver Dodge Challenger believed to be connected to the investigation.

Wakefield has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied property, and assault by pointing a gun.

The additional charges allege gunfire also struck two occupied homes during the incident.

Wakefield remains in custody as the investigation continues.
