FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. , Authorities are searching for a man accused of attacking a woman on a hiking trail at Tanglewood Park Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 12:59 p.m. on June 30 to a reported sexual assault near the dog park and overflow parking lot inside Tanglewood Park.
Investigators said the victim told deputies she was jogging on a hiking trail when an unknown man surprised and attacked her. The woman fought off the suspect and escaped from the wooded area before reaching a witness, who called 911.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a white man with dark eyes, a bald head and beard. He was reportedly wearing a red shirt and shorts of an unknown color. Investigators said the man has multiple tattoos, including a noticeable cross tattoo, and has pierced ears without earrings.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office later clarified that an image released to the public is an AI-generated sketch intended to represent what the suspect might look like based on available information.
The investigation remains active. Anyone who sees a person matching the suspect’s description is urged to call 911 immediately.
