WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two people were rescued from a burning home Monday evening after firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Peters Creek Parkway.
The fire was reported shortly after 7:20 p.m. at a two-story home on Peters Creek Parkway. When crews arrived, they encountered heavy fire coming from the front of the residence. Initial reports indicated an adult and a child were unaccounted for inside.
Firefighters immediately began rescue operations, placing ladders to the second floor while other crews launched an aggressive attack on the fire. As the incident escalated, additional fire units and EMS personnel were requested to the scene.
During a search of the home, firefighters located both occupants and rescued them from the second floor. Medical personnel immediately began treatment after the victims were brought outside.
Fire conditions intensified as crews worked inside the residence. Officials reported heavy fire throughout the second floor, with flames extending from the rear of the home. The response was upgraded to a second alarm and later to a third alarm to bring additional firefighters and resources to the scene.
Firefighters remained on an offensive strategy as they worked to contain the blaze.
The extent of the victims’ injuries has not been released, and their conditions were not immediately available Monday night.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have not released additional information about the occupants or the extent of damage to the home.
