DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County grand jury has indicted a 20-year-old Lexington woman on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the April 2026 killing of a Lexington man.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division appeared before the Davidson County Grand Jury on Monday, July 6, in the investigation into the death of 44-year-old Michael Steven Allen.

The grand jury returned a true bill of indictment against Maleigha Loale Allen, 20, of Lexington, charging her with first-degree murder.

Authorities said Allen was arrested Tuesday, July 7, at the Davidson County Jail based on the indictment. She was served with the murder charge while in custody, received no bond, and remains at the Davidson County Jail.

Allen is scheduled to appear in Davidson County Superior Court on Wednesday, July 8.
