WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office announced the results of a traffic saturation patrol conducted June 6 in the Lewisville and Clemmons townships, resulting in multiple arrests and citations for impaired driving, drug offenses and other traffic violations.
The operation was carried out by deputies and members of the Forsyth County DWI Task Force as part of an effort to improve roadway safety through increased enforcement of speed limits and reckless driving laws.
Law enforcement officers were strategically deployed throughout the designated patrol areas based on real-time traffic conditions and locations with a history of traffic violations and crashes. Officials said the highly visible enforcement effort was intended to deter dangerous driving behaviors and promote safer travel for the community.
The operation was supported by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Booze It & Lose It program, which provided its BATMobile during the patrol.
During the operation, deputies issued charges including two counts of driving while impaired and two felony drug arrests. Additional enforcement actions included 11 expired registration violations, four speeding citations, four no insurance violations and two charges of driving while license revoked.
Other charges included one no operator’s license violation, one inspection violation, one failure to stop for a red light, one reckless driving charge, two warrant services, two failures to maintain lane control, one failure to burn headlamps violation, one improper equipment violation and one possession of an open container of alcohol.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said the enforcement initiative was part of its ongoing commitment to reducing dangerous driving behaviors and improving safety on local roads and highways.
