CONCORD, N.C. — The fifth and final suspect wanted in connection with a February double homicide in Concord has been arrested, bringing all five suspects charged in the case into custody.
The Concord Police Department announced that 18-year-old Kamari Porter turned himself in to authorities at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday, June 27. He was transported to the Cabarrus County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
Porter is charged with:
- Two counts of first-degree murder
- Robbery with a dangerous weapon
- Discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle
- Discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious bodily injury
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred around 11:10 p.m. on Feb. 1 in the 2700 block of Fairington Drive NW. Officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire and found four people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two victims, 22-year-old Michael Harrison Overstreet and 19-year-old Kemauri Ziquan Blount, died from their injuries. Two other victims were transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds and were later released after receiving treatment.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery. Detectives with the Concord Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division spent several months investigating the case, identifying five suspects believed to have participated in the crime.
Before Porter’s surrender, investigators had issued public appeals for information on his whereabouts and warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous. Authorities encouraged anyone who encountered Porter not to approach him and instead contact law enforcement immediately.
The other four suspects charged in the case, Brandon Cortez Morris Jr., William Cornell McDaniel, Devin Wardell Griffin and Damani Marina, were arrested earlier in the investigation. Each faces the same charges and remains jailed without bond.
With Porter’s arrest, all five defendants charged in connection with the Feb. 1 double homicide are now in custody. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Concord Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
