DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is facing felony charges after Davie County deputies recovered a stolen Harley-Davidson motorcycle that had been taken from neighboring Stokes County, authorities said.
According to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were contacted on June 28 regarding a black 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle reported stolen earlier that day from a property on Middle Brook Road in Walnut Cove. The motorcycle, valued at approximately $10,000, had been reported to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office and entered into the National Crime Information Center database as stolen.
During the investigation, deputies developed information that led them to a residence on Calvin Lane in Mocksville. There, investigators located the motorcycle concealed beneath a tarp and confirmed through the NCIC database that it was the stolen vehicle.
Deputies arrested 26-year-old Kaleb Christopher Evans of the 4000 block of Compton Drive in Winston-Salem without incident.
Authorities said deputies also found burglary tools stored inside the motorcycle’s side compartments during the recovery.
Evans has been charged with:
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Burglary Tools
He was transported to the Davie County Detention Center, where he was given a $20,000 secured bond. Evans is scheduled to appear in Davie County District Court on July 14.
The Stokes County Sheriff’s Office is expected to pursue additional charges related to the theft of the motorcycle. The Davie County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
The Davie County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in the investigation.
