MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Five people were injured after a hazardous chemical reaction at an industrial facility in Mooresville on Wednesday morning, prompting a Level 2 hazardous materials response from multiple emergency agencies.
Mooresville Fire-Rescue said crews were initially dispatched to the facility at 2599 Charlotte Highway for a reported medical emergency involving an employee with breathing problems. After arriving, firefighters discovered hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide had been mixed, creating a hazardous chemical incident that required an upgraded hazmat response.
